Samsung's Galaxy phones are some of the only flagship smartphones left with a 3.5mm headphone jack, but that might change later this year.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 will reportedly not have a headphone jack. Sources speaking to Android Police say that not only is Samsung planning to ditch the 3.5mm port on the Note 10, but that the phone will also lack any physical buttons for functions like power, volume, and Bixby. Those buttons will allegedly be replaced by capacitive or pressure-sensitive "buttons" that may be slightly raised to help you find them.
Finally, the report backs up previous rumors that've said that there will be multiple Note 10 models, with one larger version and one smaller.
Samsung and the fans of its phones regularly tout the 3.5mm headphone jack as one of the benefits of Galaxy phones, as many other devices ditch that port. Because of this, it'd be a big deal if Samsung does decide to eliminate the headphone jack with the Note 10. One thing that's still unclear is whether or not the Galaxy S11 will also launch without a 3.5mm port.
As for why Samsung might remove the 3.5mm headphone jack and the physical buttons on the Note 10, there are a couple of possible reasons. Doing so might help make more room inside the device for a larger battery and it could also help to make the Note 10 more waterproof. And because many other smartphone makers have abandoned the 3.5mm port, Samsung might feel that it won't be as big of a deal if it finally does the same. As for the physical buttons, eliminating thouse could help to get rid of a point of failure on Samsung's next flagship.
