The rumor mill has suggested that Apple's 2019 iPhone could have a different camera layout than the iPhone XS, including the addition of a third snapper. Now a new report claims to have details on what that new design will look like.
Alleged renders of the iPhone XI have surfaced that show a triangular triple rear camera setup along with a flash, all packed into a square camera housing. The renders are based on CAD documents and were posted by OnLeaks and CashKaro.
The back of this 2019 iPhone is said to be made from a single piece of glass, including the camera bump. That appears to help make the transition from the back of the phone to the camera housing look more smooth and slope-like rather than having the camera housing jutting out from the back of the phone like in the renders we saw earlier this year.
Other improvements that've reportedly been made to the iPhone XI include a notch and bezels that've all been made slightly thinner. The screen itself is 5.8 inches, just like the iPhone XS, and there's a Lightning port on the bottom of the phone rather than a USB-C port like on Apple's new iPad Pro tablets. The mute switch on the side of the device has also been redesigned.
This leaked iPhone XI is said to measure 143.9 x 71.4 x 7.8mm. To compare, the iPhone XS is 143.6 x 70.9 x 7.7mm.
According to the leaks we've seen so far, the next iPhone will have a design similar to the iPhone X and XS, but the big addition will be a third rear camera. We don't yet know exactly what features that camera will offer, but since the iPhone XS already has a regular camera and a telephoto lens, it's possible that the third camera on this iPhone XI could be a wide angle snapper.
Apple hasn't made any announcements regarding its 2019 iPhone, but considering the timing of Apple's recent iPhone reveals, it's likely that this iPhone XI will be introduced in early September. What do you want to see from Apple's next iPhone?
