One of the new features of the Samsung Galaxy S10 is Wireless PowerShare, which lets you wirelessly charge devices like phones, the Galaxy Buds, and the Galaxy Watch Active using the Galaxy S10's backside. Now a new rumor claims that Apple may include the same feature in its next iPhone.
Apple's 2019 iPhone models will include a Wireless PowerShare-like feature that'll let you recharge other devices, according to a report from Mac Otakara. This feature could come in handy if you're out and about and your Apple Watch or your new AirPods with Wireless Charging Case die.
Today's report also claims that the 2019 iPhones could include an USB-C to Lightning cable and an 18W USB-C power adapter. Apple's current iPhone models ship with a USB-A to Lightning cable and 5W USB-A power adapter, so this would be a major upgrade that'd allow you to recharge your iPhone much more quickly.
Faster charging isn't the only reason that the switch to a USB-C to Lightning cable in 2019 iPhone boxes would be big. Apple's MacBook lineup, including the Air and Pro models, only have USB-C ports. That means that folks who buy a new MacBook must also buy a USB-C to Lightning cable if they want to charge or sync their phone with their laptop. That could finally change with this year's new iPhones, though.
