Pixel fans, you'd better clear your schedule on May 7th.
Google today posted a teaser for an announcement on May 7th, saying that "something big is coming to the Pixel universe." Attached to the Google Store page is a video highlighting the upcoming movie Avengers: Endgame and the Pixel 3's Avengers Playmoji.
So what might Google be announcing on May 7th? Avengers: Endgame is being released in theaters on April 26th, so it's not that. One possibility is the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL, which have been leaking quite frequently lately and are rumored to be arriving this spring. May 7th is the first day of Google I/O 2019, meaning this announcement will likely be made during Google's I/O keynote.
The Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL are expected to be more affordable, mid-range versions of the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL flagships. Rumors have said the Pixel 3a will have a 5.6-inch screen while the Pixel 3a XL will have a 6-inch display. Also said to be included is either a Snapdragon 670 or Snapdragon 710 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a 12MP rear camera. Rumors have suggested that the Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL will launch at Verizon and T-Mobile.
