Heads up, YouTube TV subscribers, because your monthly rate is about to go up.

Google announced today that YouTube TV's subscription price will increase to $49.99, up from its previous $40 per month price. That new monthly rate takes effect today, April 10th, for new subscribers. Existing YouTube TV subscribers will see the new price in their subsequent billing cycle after May 13th.

To help make this price hike more palatable, YouTube TV is adding eight Discovery channels. This includes Discovery Channel, HGTV, Food Network, TLC, Investigation Discovery, Animal Planet, Travel Channel, and MotorTrend. EPIX is now available for an additional charge, too.

More channels are coming later this year, as Google has teased that that OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network is coming soon.
