Today is Gmail's 15th birthday, and Google is celebrating by giving us some new Gmail features.
Smart Compose in Gmail is getting better by gaining support for Spanish, French, Italian, and Portuguese and expanding to more Android devices after being exclusive to the Pixel 3. Don't fret, iOS users, because Google says that you'll get Smart Compose for Gmail "soon". Using AI, Smart Compose suggests complete sentences as you type to help you write emails more quickly.
Another improvement is Smart Compose can now personalize suggestions for you. So if you normally say "Ahoy" in your greetings, Smart Compose will begin suggesting that. The feature can also suggest a subject line for you based on what you've written in the body of an email.
Also coming to Gmail is the ability to decide when an email you send will show up in the recipient's inbox. This means that you can send an email but then delay its arrival, say if you're working late on a Saturday or the recipient of the email is on vacation, so that the message hits their inbox at a more appropriate time.
Finally, Google will let you take more actions without leaving your inbox. Gmail will now let you do things like respond to a comment thread in Google Docs, browse hotel recommendations, and more, all from directly within an email. This'll help you save time since you won't have to open a new tab or window just to complete these tasks.
