Inbox by Gmail is shutting down in a few days, so now Google is hoping to woo Inbox users on iOS over to the Gmail app with a new feature.
Google is adding customizable swipe actions to Gmail for iOS. When enabled, you can set up different swipe actions when you swipe left and right on an email. Your options include Archive, Trash, Mark as read/unread, Snooze, and Move to.
Customizable swipe actions in Gmail for iOS is beginning its rollout today and will continuing making its way to users over the next 15 days. To access your swipe configuration settings, go into the Settings section of the Gmail app and then select "Swipe actions".

The ability to customize your swipe actions has been available on Android for quite a while now, so it's nice to see them arrive on the Gmail app for iOS. Previously, your only option when swiping an email was to delete it, but now you can archive, snooze, and more with swipes, which should help you move through your inbox a bit more quickly.
Google also says that you can use the same actions to triage your notifications, too. This means, for example, that if you like to snooze emails, you can 3D Touch or long press on a Gmail notification and click on "Snooze" to pick the date and time that the email will be snoozed until.
