Today's the day that Google's Inbox by Gmail app dies, but there's some good news for Android users on the hunt for a new email app to replace Inbox.
Spark is an email app by Readdle, and it's launching on Android today after gaining popularity with its iOS and Mac apps. The app is now available on Google Play for devices running Android 6.0 or higher.
One of the main features of Spark is to help you focus and quickly see what's important when you're checking your inbox. The Smart Inbox feature bubbles up email from real people, separating them from marketing emails and alerts from companies so that you can more quickly see important messages. Spark will also notify you when you get email from people you know so that you're not getting constantly getting pinged to check your inbox.
There are several other tools in Spark to help you power through your email. Included are features like snoozing emails for later, a Send Later feature, pins, and reminders and follow-ups. There's a Smart Search tool to help you find exactly what you're looking for in your email, and advanced customization tools will help you make Spark work exactly how you want it.
Spark also has some features focused on team collaboration. You can use a real-time editor to compose emails with your teammates and discuss emails with them privately.
Looking ahead, the Readdle team plans to achieve feature parity across its Spark apps for iOS and Android. Coming soon to the Android version of Spark are features like third-party integrations, calendar support, quick replies, email templates, and email delegation for teams.
Having more options is always a good thing, and so it's great to see Spark arriving on Android. There will likely be lots of ex-Inbox users looking for a new email app today, and Spark is a good-looking option that'll be getting better over the coming months as features are brought over from the iOS version of the app. If you're an Android user on the hunt for a new email app, you can give Spark a try by downloading it from Google Play. iOS users that read this news and are interested in giving Spark a try can find it in the App Store here.
