Another week, another iOS 12.2 beta.
Apple today released iOS 12.2 beta 5 to developers. It's available through Settings > General > Software Update on your iOS device, or Apple's Developer Center on the web. A release for public testers in the Apple Beta Software Program should arrive in the next day or two.
The update to iOS 12.2 brings several new features. These include four new Animoji — a giraffe, a shark, a boar, and an owl — as well as Apple News support in Canada. Support for AirPlay 2 on third-party TVs is included, too, along with a redesigned remote control in the iOS Control Center. Apple's Wallet app is getting a small update and Apple Pay Cash is also getting a new UI. Testers have found that AT&T's "5G E" status indicators is also included.
Apple hasn't announced when iOS 12.2 will be released to the public. The company is rumored to be hostingan event on March 25th that could include a reveal of a new Apple News subscription service, and so it's possible that iOS 12.2 will be released after the event since the update includes hints at that upcoming service.
Also available today is watchOS 5.2 beta 5, which includes new Hermès watch faces. It's available to developers through the Watch app on an iPhone.
