Right after Android Pie was made official, HTC confirmed its plans to send the update to some of its phones. Fast-forward seven months and the company has a status update to share.
HTC today reaffirmed that it will update the HTC U11, U11+, and U12+ to Android 9 Pie. The company is "working on ensuring the update is compatible" with its devices, and it's aiming to begin rolling out the updates in the second quarter. The exact timing of your phone's update will depend on your carrier's availabilities.
So far, HTC has only updated one of its devices to Android Pie: the HTC U11 Lite with Android One. The other three devices are flagship phones that run HTC's custom Sense UI, so the company is likely taking some extra time to add Sense UI to Android Pie and ensure that everything is working as it should. Now HTC U11, U11+, and U12+ owners can look forward to Q2 2019 as the time that their slice of Pie will (hopefully) arrive.
We wanted to share the status on the Android 9 update. HTC is currently working on ensuring the update is compatible with our phones & we anticipate a release for U11, U11+ & U12+ customers starting Q2’19. Exact timing defers to operators’ availabilities in different countries.
