T-Mobile is working to help more of its customers avoid scam calls.
T-Mo announced today that it's bringing its Caller Verified feature to more devices. After launching on the Galaxy Note 9 in January, Caller Verified is now available on Galaxy S9 and S9+, and it's coming soon to the Galaxy S10, S10+, S10e, LG G8 ThinQ, and LG Aristo 3.
Caller Verified uses the STIR and SHAKEN standards to verify that an incoming call is actually from who it says its from. The feature digitally validates the handoff of calls to fight caller ID spoofing, a technique that scammers use to hijack a phone number to match the area code and three-digit prefix of a person they're calling to make their call look authentic.
T-Mobile says that Caller Verified will work on calls made across cellular networks when other carriers implement the STIR and SHAKEN standards.
In other scam call fighting news, T-Mo today confirmed that it's identified more than 10 billion calls as "Scam Likely" in the two years since it deployed its Scam ID and Scam Block features.
