Good news for folks who like to pay for things with their phones: A new retailer has announced support for two popular digital wallets.
7-Eleven is now launching support for Apple Pay and Google Pay. Support for both services will roll out to "most" U.S. stores throughout the month of September.
"Frictionless experiences are the future, and digital payments are key to such experiences. Consumers prefer shopping at retailers that offer digital payment capabilities," said Gurmeet Singh, 7-Eleven's CDO and CIO. "The ability to pay with their smart device gives consumers one more reason to shop at 7-Eleven."
7-Eleven is one of the most popular convenience stores in the country, so it's great to see support for both Apple Pay and Google Pay coming to most stores this month. Support for both services is still growing among retailers in the U.S., but now 7-Eleven will allow iOS and Android users to securely pay for things with their phones. And for some consumers who really like to make payments with their phones, having support for Apple Pay and Google Pay could drive them to shop at 7-Eleven over the competition.
