Today's a big day for Samsung, because in addition to unveiling the Galaxy Note 9, it took the wraps off of a brand new smartwatch.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch is launching this month in 46mm (above) and 42mm (below) sizes. Both models include a 1.15GHz dual-core Exynos 9110 processor, 768MB of RAM, and 4GB of built-in storage. They also pack and ambient light sensor, heart rate tracking, NFC, and IP68 water and dust resistance as well as a 5ATM water resistance rating.
While the two Galaxy Watch models share a lot of features, there are some notable differences between them. The 46mm comes with a 1.3-inch 360x360 always-on Super AMOLED display and a 22mm interchangeable watch band. Its battery weighs in at 472mAh and it'll be sold in a Silver color option.
Meanwhile, the 42mm Galaxy Watch has a slightly smaller 1.2-inch 360x360 circular Super AMOLED screen and a 20mm interchangeable strap. Its battery is smaller, too, at 270mAh.
The Galaxy Watch comes loaded with Tizen OS 4.0 and is compatible with devices running Android 5.0 or higher as well as Apple's iPhone 5 and later models running iOS 9.0 or higher. When it comes to software features, Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Watch with a stress management tracker that'll detect high levels of stress and offer breathing exercises to help you, a new sleep tracker, and health and fitness tracking.
Samsung will launch the Galaxy Watch in the U.S. on August 24th, in Korea on August 31st, and in other select markets on September 14th. Pricing for the 42mm will be set at $329.99, while the 46mm will cost $349.99. The Galaxy Watch will be sold by Amazon, Best Buy, and Samsung in the U.S., and customers who buy from Samsung before September 8th will get a free watch band.
Also of note is that Samsung will launch an LTE version of the Galaxy Watch with 1.5GB of RAM. It'll be available from AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, and Samsung later in 2018.
