Now that the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are Samsung's flagship devices, Samsung is apparently going to recycle the Galaxy S8 name and design for a mid-range product.

Leaks have revealed the Samsung Galaxy S8 Lite, which is pretty much what it sounds like. The design is similar to the Galaxy S8, complete with the rear fingerprint reader to the right of the rear camera rather than below it like on the Galaxy S9.

According to a filing at TENAA, a Chinese regulatory body, the Galaxy S8 Lite features the model number SM-G8750. Rumored specs for the GS8 Lite include a 5.8-inch 2220x1080 display, Snapdragon 660 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a microSD card slot. It'll reportedly be powered by a 3000mAh battery and run Android 8.0 Oreo.

The Galaxy S8 Lite is rumored for a May 21st announcement in China. It's unclear if the phone will be launched elsewhere, but if so, it could be a nice option for anyone in the market for a mid-range device. The Galaxy S8 design isn't bad, even if the fingerprint reader is in an awkward position, and specs like a 5.8-inch 2220x1080 display and 4GB of RAM should be plenty for most users.
