Gamers that prefer to play PC titles will soon be able to enjoy their games on their mobile device.
Steam has announced a new Steam Link app that'll let you play your Steam games on your Android or iOS device. With the app, you'll be able to stream games from your Mac or PC to an Android phone, tablet, or TV device, or an iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV.
You will need to have your Android or iOS device connected to your PC via a 5GHz Wi-Fi network or a wired Ethernet connection. The Steam Link app will include support for Steam Controllers, MFI controllers, and more.
The Steam Link app is slated to launch the week of May 21st. Android access will initially be offered in beta form.
Steam has long offered a Steam Link device for streaming games to a TV, and now Steam users will be able to stream their games to their mobile device, too. There are some limitations, but this is still a big deal because it'll let you play your games on your phone or tablet, leaving the TV to someone else. If you can play on your TV, you'll be able to do so without needing the dedicated Steam Link device.
Also announced today was the Steam Video app, which will launch later this summer. The app will let Android and iOS users watch Steam movies and videos over Wi-Fi and LTE. Offline support will be included as well.
