Heads up, Google app beta testers, because it looks like Google is testing a new feature with you.
Some Android users are now seeing an addition on the bottom of their Google search widget. The widget below the widget shows details related to your commute, weather, and other local info, meaning that you don’t have to swipe over into your Google feed to view those details.
The feature is available in the newest beta of the Google app (6.6.14.21). If you’re running that version of the app and Google has flipped the switch for you, you can toggle the feed by going into the Settings section of your Google app, locating the “Widget” section, and flipping the switch.
Interestingly, it looks like not every beta tester is getting this new widget, even if they’ve got the Widget option in the settings of their Google app. I’ve got the Widget option toggled on and I’ve got the newest Google app beta, but there’s no new widget showing up for me quite yet.
It remains to be seen if this feature will be rolled out to the public. It looks pretty handy, though, giving you a quick way to view local commute or weather info without having to go into your Google app feed or adding another full-on widget to your home screen.
Is this new Google widget showing up for you?
