Pokémon Go is one of the hottest apps of the summer, and while its popularity may not be as high now as it was at launch, there are still quite a few folks playing. Today the development team behind Pokémon Go announced a major new feature for those users.
Pokémon Go will soon gain Buddy Pokémon. With this feature, you’ll be able to select your favorite Pokémon from your collection, and it’ll appear beside your trainer on your Profile screen, and you’ll also see a small image of them next to your photo in the corner of the screen on the map.
Your Buddy Pokémon will also give you bonuses while you’re playing. For example, it’ll give you Candy while you’re walking together.
You will be able to change your Buddy Pokémon at any time, so you won’t be permanently stuck with any one Pokémon if you choose it as your buddy.
Having a Buddy Pokémon will be a nice addition to Pokémon Go. Not only will it let you show off your favorite Pokémon on your profile screen, but it’ll also help you earn items while you’re walking around, like Candy that you can use to evolve your Pokémon.
An update to add Buddy Pokémon is “right around the corner,” says the Pokémon Go development team. They add that they’ve got “a lot more in the works this fall.”
