TP-Link is a company that many folks know for networking devices, but TP-Link also makes smartphones, and it revealed its two newest Android handsets at IFA this week.
The Neffos X1 and Neffos X1 Max are now official. Both devices boast metal unibody designs that TP-Link says are inspired by rocks in streams, which are “smoothed by the water over time without losing their mettle.” The backs of both phones are curved on the edges to make them more comfortable to hold.
As you might expect from their names, the Neffos X1 and Neffos X1 Max are different sizes, with the X1 packing a 5-inch 1280x720 display and the X1 Max bumping things up to a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 screen. The X1 Max also offers increased storage and RAM options, with the X1 available in 2GB RAM/16GB storage and 3GB/32GB configurations, while the X1 Max comes in 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB flavors. Both models come with microSD slots for adding more storage.
Other features of these two phones include 13-megapixel rear cameras with phase detection autofocus and f/2.0 aperture lenses. Around on the front of the phones are 5-megapixel cameras with real-time Beautify modes. Both devices also offer rear-mounted fingerprint readers, dual SIM slots, 4G LTE, and octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 processors.
Rounding out the features sets of these new Neffos phones are their batteries. The Neffos X1 has a 2,250mAh battery, while the Neffos X1 Max has a beefier 3,000mAh battery.
The Neffos X1 and Neffos X1 Max will both be available in Cloudy Grey and Sunrise Gold color options. They’ll launch by Q4 2016 with Android 6.0 in tow. As for pricing, expect the Neffos X1 to carry a price tag of €199 ($222 USD) while the Neffos X1 Max will cost €249 ($278 USD).
With its new Neffos phones, TP-Link is bringing to market two devices that target different markets. The Neffos X1 is the more affordable device aimed at folks that are price-conscious and those that just like smaller phones, while the Neffos X1 Max is a good fit for phablet fans. Thankfully, both offer metal unibody designs, meaning that your phone will be made of premium materials no matter which Neffos you choose.
