There’s been a whirlwind of news today regarding the Galaxy Note 7, its recall, and the U.S. carriers’ response to that recall, and now Samsung has made another announcement regarding the Note 7.
Samsung today announced the U.S. Product Exchange Program for Galaxy Note 7 owners. This program will give anyone that currently has a Note 7 two different options for getting a replacement device. They are:
- Exchange current Galaxy Note7 device with a new Galaxy Note7 (available next week)
- Exchange current Galaxy Note7 for a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge and replacement of any Note7 specific accessories with a refund of the price difference between devices.
Samsung also says that Note 7 owners will get a $25 gift card or bill credit from select carrier retail outlets when they exchange their Note 7 for a Galaxy S7 device or a Note 7.
If you’ve got a Galaxy Note 7 and want to exchange it with Samsung, you can either contact the retailer the you bought it from or call 1-800-Samsung to being the exchange process.
Previously, it sounded like existing Note 7 owners may have to wait a couple of weeks for their replacement device, but Samsung’s latest announcement says that the replacements will be ready to go next week. Samsung is apparently rushing to build replacement Note 7 units, which is good for them because it means that they’re getting non-exploding versions of their new flagship out the door, and it lessens the time that consumers have to spend with their potentially explosive Note 7s.
If you’ve got a Galaxy Note 7, which exchange option will you be taking advantage of?
