When the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 launched, they came with invitation programs that helped OnePlus’s supply keep up with consumer demand. The company ditched its invitation program with the OnePlus 3, though, and things appeared to be going smoothly, but apparently OnePlus has run into a bit of a speed bump.
OnePlus announced today that it’s pausing sales of the OnePlus 3 in several European countries from August 9 at 00:00 CEST until September 12 at 23:59 CEST. Those countries include Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain. OnePlus will also pause OP3 sales in Hong Kong during this time.
As for why it’s temporarily pausing sales of its new flagship, OnePlus says that “sales in mainland Europe have been way better than what we expected.” Estimated shipping times for the OnePlus 3 in Europe have been slipping lately, and so OnePlus has decided to just put a temporary hold on sales so that it can build up its supply.
Having so much demand for your new phone that you have to pause sales is a nice problem for OnePlus to have. It is kind of a bummer for folks in the affected countries that were planning on buying a OnePlus 3, though, because once August 9 rolls around, they’ll have to wait more than a month for sales of the OP3 to resume. If you’re in one of the countries listed above and you’re interested in the OnePlus 3, you may want to put your order in soon.
