After originally launching way back in November, the Apple Music for Android today finally graduated from beta.
Apple today issued an update to the Apple Music app for Android, adding equalizer settings as well as performance, playback, and stability improvements. The other notable change is that the update bumped the app to version 1.0.0 and eliminated the “BETA” tag that originally appeared on its startup screen.
When Apple Music launched on Android, it was very much a beta app, missing support for music videos and requiring an iOS or Mac device for customers that wanted a family membership. Apple has improved the app since launch, though, even giving it Android-specific features like a Now Playing home screen widget.
It’s still kind of strange to think about Apple offering an app on Android, but having an Apple Music app on Android is necessary if Apple wants its music service to succeed. Because Apple does want Apple Music to do well, expect it to continue to tweak and improve the Android app even after it became all grown up today.
