Motorola gave its Moto G family a new member in May, introduced its new Moto Z flagship in June, and now that July is here, it’s time for the Moto E family to grow.
The Moto E3 is now official, boasting a design that’s not too far off from the Moto G4. The Moto E3 offers a 5-inch HD display that’s a bit larger and higher-res than the 4.5-inch 960x540 screen found on the Moto E (2nd Gen.). The cameras on the Moto E3 have been upgraded, too, coming in at 8 megapixels on the rear and 5-megapixels on the front. The Moto E (2nd Gen.) offered a 5-megapixel rear camera and VGA front cam.
Rounding out the Moto E3’s spec list is a quad-core processor, 2800mAh battery, a microSD card slot, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow. All of those features are packed inside of a body that Motorola touts as being splashproof.
The Moto E3 will launch in the U.K. in early September for £99 ($132 USD). There’s no word on when or if the Moto E3 will arrive in the U.S.
With the Moto E3, Motorola and Lenovo are sticking to the roots of the Moto E family by offering a budget phone that tries to not look like a budget phone. The news that the E3’s screen has been bumped up to 5 inches is sure to bum out fans of smaller phones like the past two Moto E models, but if you don’t mind the 5-inch screen, the Moto E looks like it could be another solid budget offering from Motorola.
