Meet the processor that could very well power the next wave of flagship smartphones.
The Snapdragon 821 is now official. Qualcomm says that the Snapdragon 821 offers a 10 percent performance increase over its predecessor, the Snapdragon 820, with a quad-core Kryo CPU that can reach speeds of 2.4GHz.
One detail worth noting is that while the Snapdragon 821 is the follow-up to the Snapdragon 820, the 820 won’t be disappearing. Instead, Qualcomm plans to use the 821 to “compliment” the 820.
The first devices to include a Snapdragon 821 processor are expected to begin arriving in the second half of 2016. It’s unclear which phones and tablets will pack the 821 when they come to market, but given that this is Qualcomm’s new flagship processor, we could end up seeing it in some high-end devices.
