Less than one week after a report claimed that Google is prepping its own Android Wear smartwatches, an image of those wearables has leaked.
The image you see above shows recreations of the Angelfish and Swordfish, the two Android Wear smartwatches that Google is said to be working on. Do note that these images were made by Android Police based on information from their source, meaning that they’re not official renders.
On the left is the Angelfish, which is the larger of the two devices. Angelfish is reportedly 14mm think with a diameter of 43.5mm, and inside of that body is said to live LTE, GPS, and a heart rate monitor, making the Angelfish able to work normally without a connected smartwatch. Unfortunately, because of the way that Angelfish’s strap and lugs are designed, it’s said that the watch won’t support Google’s fast-swap MODE watch bands.
On the right is the smaller Swordfish, which reportedly measures 10.6mm thick with a diameter of 42mm. The Swordfish has a smaller crown button on its side than the Angelfish, and it lacks the extra buttons on either side of that crown. Today’s report also says that Swordfish will have a black bezel between the display and the case. This could be Google’s alternative to the “flat tire” found on the Moto 360: Rather than cutting off the bottom part of the display, Google is just make the fully circular display a bit smaller and placing the bezel all the way around it.
It’s unclear when Angelfish and Swordfish will launch — if they end up launching at all — and it’s also unknown what kind of features they might pack. The news that Google may be prepping its own Android Wear smartwatches is exciting, though, and I’m sure that there are quite a few people that’d be interested in a smartwatch made by Google itself.
