Months after introducing its new 10-inch Fire HD tablet, Amazon has given the Android slate with a new body and more storage.
The new Fire HD 10 comes with a silver aluminum body, an upgrade over the plastic black and white versions that launched last year. In addition to that metal body, this new Fire HD 10 is available with 64GB of built-in storage, whereas the black and white models are only available in 16GB and 32GB configurations.
Pricing on this metal Fire HD 10 is set at $289.99 for the 64GB model with Special Offers, or $304.99 without Special Offers. Special Offers are Amazon ads that appear on your lock screen. If you decide to get the Special Offers version but then change your mind, you do have the option of getting rid of them on the device.
Amazon is also offering 16GB and 32GB versions of the aluminum Fire HD 10 that start at $229.99.
Amazon’s Fire HD tablets are meant to be affordable devices for consuming content and buying stuff from Amazon. And while this aluminum Fire HD 10 isn’t exactly a high-end device — it's still got a 1280x800 display resolution and 1GB of RAM — the aluminum finish will help to give it a more premium feel.
