Following Android 6.0 updates for the Sprint and T-Mobile versions of the Galaxy S5, Verizon is now updating its own GS5 to Marshmallow.
Verizon says that starting today, May 31, it’ll start pushing Android 6.0.1 to its Galaxy S5. The update will include all of the Marshmallow-y goodies that you’d expect, like Google Now on Tap and Doze mode battery optimizations.
Also included in this update is Wi-Fi Calling support, a new look for app icons and folders, Android for Work, and Ultra High-Quality Audio, which Verizon says will take your music files and “enhance the richness and detail.”
This update is pretty exciting for anyone rocking a Galaxy S5 on Verizon. While the GS5 is starting to get a bit long in the tooth, this update should breathe some new life into the device by adding several new features. If you’ve got a Verizon GS5, be sure to keep an eye out for the OTA. You can also check for it manually by going into Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for Updates.
