One month after the NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet K1 got Android 6.0.1, the time has come for its non-K1 sibling to get the same update.
NVIDIA is now pushing SHIELD Tablet OTA 4.1 to the original SHIELD Tablet. The update includes Android 6.0.1, Vulkan API support, the ability to double-tap the power button to launch the SHIELD Camera app, and more. Here’s NVIDIA’s full changelog:
NVIDIA also notes that while this update is now available for the Wi-Fi-only and international LTE versions of the SHIELD Tablet, the update for the US LTE model is still going through carrier certification. It’ll be released when it’s approved.
If you’ve got an original NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet, keep an eye out for your OTA update to be pushed to you, or you can check for it manually by going into the Settings app and then “About tablet”.
