Nintendo made its mobile app debut last month with Miitomo, an Android and iOS app that’s all about interacting with your friends. Some folks have been wondering when we’ll see some of Nintendo’s beloved franchises on mobile devices, though, and now we have the answer.
Nintendo today revealed that its next mobile apps will be games in the Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing franchises. No details about when they might be released or how much they might cost were shared.
For those unfamiliar with Nintendo’s franchises, the Fire Emblem franchise is made up of tactical role-playing games, while Animal Crossing is a sort of open-ended lifestyle simulation game that tasks you with living in a village and completing activities like fishing, customizing your character and home, socializing with villagers, and more.
While Miitomo seems to be doing well for Nintendo, getting 10 million users worldwide since its launch in Japan on March 17, the news that well-known Nintendo franchises are now coming to mobile is sure to excite many gamers. Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing are two pretty different games, with Fire Emblem being more hardcore and tactical and Animal Crossing being a bit more laid back, so Nintendo will be going after both types of gamers with its next mobile releases.
