Google’s catalog of apps on iOS has grown again today with the launch of the Android TV app.
As you might’ve guessed, the Android TV app for iOS lets you use your iOS device as a remote for your Android TV set-top box. The app has both a directional pad and trackpad for navigation, and it’ll also let you search using voice commands and enter text using a keyboard.
In addition to those navigation and search features, you can connect multiple remotes to an Android TV box for multiplayer gaming.
The Android TV app is now available for download from the App Store. It’s a universal app for iPhone and iPad, requires iOS 8 or higher, and weighs in at 9.7MB.
While there a lot of platform diehards out there that stick to Android, iOS, or another mobile operating system and don’t buy anything else, there are many others that mix and match platforms, like buying an iPhone and an Android tablet. The Android TV app for iOS is for the latter group, and it’s good to see Google push this app out so that iPhone owners can use their phone as a remote for their Android TV box, just like their Android phone-owning brethren.
