After the G5 SE quietly appeared LG's official Russian site, the G5 variant has been given a full review.

The LG G5 SE has been reviewed by Russian blog Hi-Tech@Mail.ru, complete with photos and videos of the unreleased device. The LG G5 SE looks largely similar to the LG G5, complete with its rear-mounted fingerprint reader, dual rear cameras, and a modular design that lets you pop off the bottom of the G5 SE and swap in modules like the LG Cam Plus and LG Hi-Fi Plus.

While they look similar on the outside, the G5 and G5 SE are a bit different on the inside. The G5 SE offers 3GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 652 processor, down from 4GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 820 inside the G5. The G5 SE does offer the same 2800mAh battery as the G5, though, and the same 5.3-inch 2560x1440 display, too.

The review of the G5 SE found that it’s largely similar to the G5, but that its screen wasn’t nearly bright enough. Hi-Tech@Mail.ru also says that the G5 SE suffered from some performance issues when trying to capture 4K video, but that dropping down to full HD video cleared things up.

It’s unclear exactly where LG plans to launch the G5 SE, but it seems unlikely that it’ll see a wide release. Instead, LG will probably release it in a handful of markets as a more affordable alternative to the LG G5. Considering that the G5 SE sounds like a G5 but with slightly lower-end performance, markets that won’t be getting the G5 SE probably don’t need to fret about missing out on anything.
