Less than one week after we got an early peek at HTC’s Boost+ app, it’s officially launched in the Google Play Store.
HTC Boost+ is now available for download, and it’s not limited to HTC devices. The Play Store shows that HTC Boost+ is compatible with my non-HTC phones like the Motorola DROID Turbo 2 and Samsung Galaxy Note 5, meaning that anyone with a device running Android 5.0 or higher can check it out.
The official Boost+ app looks largely similar to the one that leaked out last week. It includes features like the ability to delete cache files, installers, and temporary files to reclaim some storage space, and it offers to “automatically boost the performance of your games an apps” by freeing up memory. Boost+ can also identify and remove apps that you don’t use often and lock apps with a passcode to help protect your data.
While Boost+ is compatible with Android devices from other manufacturers, one feature called “Game battery boost” is listed as HTC-only. Features like Clear Junk, Boost, Manage Apps, and Lock Apps should work with other devices, though.
Apps like Boost+ that offer memory cleaning and junk file deletion used to be big in the early days of Android, but we don’t hear about them much anymore, as Android is supposed to manage memory on its own. HTC says that its new app can help you to “smartly tune performance” and “improve power consumption,” though.
