Nearly two years after it first added chat to its app, Snapchat is now rolling out Chat 2.0.
A Snapchat update that’s now rolling out includes Chat 2.0, a refreshed way to talk with your friends. With Chat 2.0, you can send messages, stickers, and audio and video notes for your friend to see or hear when they open Snapchat again. You can also easily start audio or video calls within a chat and send photos by tapping the Photo icon and scrolling through your camera roll.
Snapchat’s new update also adds Auto-Advancing Stories. As its name suggests, the feature will automatically move you from one Snapchat story to another so that when one person’s story ends, you’re automatically pushed onto the next person’s story. You can always swipe to skip ahead or pull down to exit if you’d like.
Snapchat may be primarily known for sending disappearing photos and videos, but today’s update really beefs up its chat offerings. And while this improved chat experience may not have quite the user base of apps like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, this Chat 2.0 experience could convince some folks to do more chatting in Snapchat rather than hopping to SMS or another service.
