Samsung is no stranger to blinging out its devices, and the latest Galaxy product to get the crystal treatment is the Gear S2.
Samsung has officially introduced the Gear S2 by de GRISOGONO, a smartwatch with a case that’s covered in diamonds and a bracelet made of galuchat rawhide. The 41mm rose gold case includes 56 white diamonds, while the black stainless steel portion includes 71 black diamonds. Despite being studded with diamonds, this Gear S2’s bezel turns around freely, just like it does on the regular models.
The Gear S2 by GRIOSGONO is a collaboration between Samsung and luxury jewelry and watchmaker de GRISOGONO, and the device will be sold in both companies’ stores starting this summer. No price has been announced, but considering that it’s covered in more than 100 diamonds, I’d bet that this smartwatch isn’t going to be cheap.
Samsung does offer Rose Gold and Platinum versions of the Gear S2, and while those devices do look more luxurious than the other Gear S2 models, they’re only plated in 18k gold and platinum. This Gear S2 by de GRISOGONO is covered in black and white diamonds, and so it offers a bit more luxury than Rose Gold and Platinum models. And so while most of us will probably never wear this Gear S2 by de GRISOGONO, it does offer a super luxurious way into the smartwatch market for folks with the kind of money that can afford it.
