Many of us have used Google to help book a trip in the past, whether we’re searching for the best price on airfare, hotel, or whatever else. Now Google is aiming to help make vacation planning easier with Destinations.
Google Destinations is a new mobile tool to not only help you find the best pricing for a vacation, but also the best time to travel and things to do when you get there. Simply grab your phone and enter a continent, country, or state that you want to visit and add “destination” and you’ll be on your way. Google will present you with various cities for you to visit, complete with available airfare and hotel pricing.
After you’ve searched, you can filter the options presented to you by date, including flexible dates that will give you more options. You can also tell Google what you’re interested in doing on your vacation, how much you’re willing to spend, and whether you’re traveling alone or with another person.
If you see a city that interests you, you can select it and Google will give you a primer on that locale, complete with photos, videos, a description, the top sights to see, peak travel months, and monthly weather info. You can also slide over to the Plan a Trip tab to get more info on upcoming flights and hotels to stay at.
It can be overwhelming and time consuming to hunt down the best airfare and hotel prices for a trip while also figuring out the best time to go, the sights to see, and so on. Google Destinations aims to simplify the planning process by being your one-stop shop for arranging your next vacation. The whole thing seems to work well in my brief time trying it, surfacing most every bit of info you’d want to research about a place before traveling there, including the best times to visit and what the weather will be like when you’re there. Even if you like to do your own pricing research for a trip, Destinations can still come in handy for things like weather and attraction info, especially since it’s all in one place.
