Last month, Karma announced that it would be slowing the overall speed of its Neverstop unlimited plan after some users abused the plan. The company backtracked about a week later, saying instead that it would throttle speeds after 15GB of regular usage. Fast-forward to today and Karma’s plan has changed again.
Karma says that it’s officially killing Neverstop, saying that the changes made the plan sustainable at its $50 price and they upset users, too. As a result, Neverstop is coming to an end, with existing customers keeping their plan until the end of their billing cycle.
In its place, Karma is launching Pulse, a new service that offers varying amounts of data. There are preset options set at 5GB for $40 per month, 10GB for $75 per month, and 20GB for $140 per month. You can also add more data at a rate of $15 per gigabyte, and you’re free to upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time.
Pulse offers speeds of 6-8Mbps, with peak speeds of 25Mbps. Karma promises that there will be no throttling, so you needn’t worry about your speeds being slowed. With all of the Pulse plans, you can get up to 8 devices connected simultaneously.
It’s kind of strange to see Karma end up just pulling its Neverstop plan altogether after making changes to it last month, but considering all of the brouhaha that’s surrounded the plan, killing it may have been the right move. Now Karma and its customers don’t have to worry about any kind of throttling, and customers have many different choices when it comes to how much data they get each month.
