The number of smartphone options available to iOS users continue to grow. Previously, they only had the Pebble, then Apple came out with the Apple Watch, and then Android Wear gained iOS support. Now Samsung’s new smartwatch will get iOS support, too.
Samsung said today that its Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic will work with iOS devices later in 2016. Unfortunately, no other details on Samsung’s plans were given, so it’s unclear exactly when in the year the feature will be added.
One other detail about the Gear S2’s iOS support that’s still unknown is exactly what kind of features will be available. Given that neither Pebble nor Android Wear devices are as feature-rich when paired with an iOS device as they are when paired with an Android phone, though, I would expect that the Gear S2 feature set will be more limited with an iPhone than it would be with a Galaxy Note 5. But hey, more choices are always good!
