After announcing NumberSync back in October, AT&T is now updating the Samsung Gear S2 with the feature.
AT&T says that existing Gear S2 owners will get NumberSync through a software update. Folks that buy one new from AT&T will get it out of the box, though, so they can start using it right away. To celebrate the Gear S2 getting NumberSync, AT&T is selling Samsung’s new smartwatch for $99.99 with a two-year contract. A Mobile Share Value plan ($30 for the watch by itself or $10 to add to an existing plan) is required.
AT&T NumberSync is a feature that’ll let you send and receive texts and phone calls from your smartwatch and use the same phone number that is attached to your smartphone. This way, you can carry just your smartwatch if you’d like and still stay in contact with others using the phone number that they know belongs to you.
