One month after releasing its first Android smartphone, BlackBerry has released its first Android software update.
The BlackBerry Priv is receiving its first update starting today, December 1. The update will hit phones purchased through ShopBlackBerry first, with carrier-branded Priv units getting it starting December 7.
As for what the update includes, BlackBerry says Priv owners can expect improvements to the camera, stability, security, and overall performance:
This sounds like a pretty solid update, improving several of the most important aspects of a smartphone. Included are December’s Android security patches, and while it’s not surprising to see BlackBerry working hard to keep the Priv secure, it’s good to see the company sticking to its commitment to issuing monthly security updates.
To get this 475MB update on your BlackBerry Priv, head into Settings > About > System Updates.
BlackBerry says that it’ll also begin pushing updates to its BlackBerry Keyboard, BlackBerry Hub, BlackBerry Camera, and DTEK by BlackBerry apps for Android. Those updates will include:
