Like to be on the bleeding edge and have things before most everyone else? If so, the new HTC Preview program may be for you.
Announced earlier today on Reddit, the HTC Preview program will let you get early access to hardware and software in exchange for giving HTC feedback on what you’ve used. HTC Preview is free to join, but to join you’ll need to be at least 18 years old. HTC is offering programs in the US, EU, and Asia, and you’ll need to be on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or Verizon if you want to take part in the US.
There are a few things about HTC Preview to note. First up, signing up does not guarantee that you’ll actually be invited to join. HTC also notes that the majority of the program’s projects will be software-based, but that there may be some hardware trials when HTC is preparing to launch new products. HTC says that no personal information (passwords, emails, calls, etc.) will be shared, explaining that it’s focused on collecting data related to network, battery info, and apps used. Finally, because you’ll be testing unreleased software and hardware, you’ll have to sign an NDA that will prevent you from sharing whatever you’re trialling with others.
Because HTC wants you to really put its Preview software through its paces, the company expects you to use whatever you’re testing as your daily driver. If you’re comfortable with testing beta software on your daily device, then HTC Preview may be worth a try. For HTC, the program is an attempt to try something different, show its fans some love, and try to apply their feedback to improve their products before unleashing them on the public.
