A little less than one month after Google officially introduced the two newest members of its Nexus family, one of them is starting to hit store shelves.
LG says that the Nexus 5X will be available in “key markets” starting today, October 19. Those key markets include the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, India, Korea, and Japan. Additional locales in Europe, Asia, and Latin America will begin Nexus 5X sales in the coming weeks.
So how can you get one? The Nexus 5X is being sold in the Google Store, of course, for $379/£339 for the 16GB model and $429/£379 for the more capacious 32GB version. LG says that other “major carriers and retailers” will offer the 5X as well, but it hasn’t dropped any names.
The Nexus 5X is the follow-up to 2013’s Nexus 5, one of the more beloved devices in Google’s Nexus lineup. It offered a combination of a mostly solid feature set, a not huge 5-inch screen, and an affordable price tag that appealed to a lot of people. The Nexus 6 that followed was huge and quite a bit more expensive. Now Google is going to with a two Nexus phone approach, with one to satisfy fans of the Nexus 5 and another to appeal to folks that prefer the larger Nexus 6. If you fall into the former camp, your device has arrived.
