UPDATE: Verizon has confirmed the logo change, explaining that it “marks the beginning of the next chapter to distinguish Verizon in the minds of consumers and signals our revitalized purpose of delivering the promise of the digital world — simply, reliably, and in a way that consumers want.”
ORIGINAL: Apparently this is the week to drastically change your logo, because one day after Google introduced a refreshed brand, it appears that Verizon is about to do the same.
AdAge reports that Verizon today introduced a new logo internally and that the company plans to reveal the refreshed look to the public tomorrow, September 3. While the Verizon name is still black, the rest of the logo is pretty different, ditching the red “Z” and totally changing the famous red check mark. You can see the old and new logos next to one another below.
Verizon’s big red check is a pretty well-known part of the company, so it’s kind of crazy to see that Big Red may be changing it up by making it less stylized and slipping it in at the end of its name. The new logo definitely looks more modern, though, which is probably what Verizon is going for.
What do you think of Verizon’s alleged new logo?
