Starting today, July 27, the T-Mobile version of the HTC One M9 will start getting its update to Android 5.1. The update will bump the phone to software version 2.7.531.6 and it includes Android 5.1, anti-theft, Google Wallet, and battery improvements.
The One M9’s Android 5.1 update will be rolled out over the air from July 27 through August 20. If you’ve got a T-Mobile-flavored One M9, though, you probably want the update as soon as possible. If you’d like, you can try to pull the update manually by going into Settings > About > Software updates > Check Now. Just be aware that it’s 833MB in size, so you’ll probably want to be on a speedy Wi-Fi connection before you start downloading.
The update from Android 5.0 to 5.1 isn’t a huge one, but it does offer a handful of tweaks and bug fixes. Plus, I’m sure that most T-Mobile One M9 owners will just be happy to be on the latest publicly-available version of Android. And then there’s some battery improvements included with this One M9 update, which are always welcome. So yeah, if you’ve got a T-Mobile One M9, grab this update ASAP!
