ORIGINAL: AT&T and BlackBerry have been pretty buddy-buddy for a while now, with AT&T selling a lot of different BlackBerry phones over the years, including the much-loved old Bold 9000 and the newer Passport and Classic. Now a new report claims that AT&T and BlackBerry are going to come together again for a unique ‘Berry handset.
According to Evan Blass, also known as @evleaks, the rumored Android-powered BlackBerry slider phone is heading to AT&T. Blass refers to the device as the “BlackBerry Venice,” which is likely a codename. The BlackBerry Venice is expected to be an Android slider phone that includes a touchscreen and a physical keyboard. That device is interesting for many reasons.
Not only would it be huge to see an Android phone from BlackBerry, but the slider phone is basically extinct in the smartphone world, so it’ll be kind of crazy to see a sort of updated BlackBerry Torch, especially one that’s running Android.
