Following its debut last month, Oppo’s slim R7 is now available for pre-order.
The Oppo R7 is priced at $399 and is available in gold and silver color options. The US version of the R7 supports WCDMA 850/900/1700/1900/2100MHz and LTE bands 1, 4, 7, and 17, so it should work on both AT&T and T-Mobile in the US.
Oppo says that the R7 will ship in early July 2015. If you get your order in quickly enough, you’ll get a free iLike Speed Metal Bluetooth Headset along with your new phone. Oppo says that the headset will only be available while stock lasts, so if you’re thinking about getting an R7, you may want to do it soon.
In terms of specs, the Oppo R7’s got a 5-inch 1920x1080 display, 13-megapixel Samsung 3M2 camera with f/2.2 aperture, and an 8-megapixel front-facing shooter. Packed inside of its 6.3mm-thick metal frame is a 1.5GHz octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, a microSD slot, and a 2320mAh battery. Oppo is throwing in its VOOC mini Rapid Charger with each R7, too, so you can quickly give your phone a battery boost.
The R7 comes with Oppo’s ColorOS 2.1 user interface running on top of Android 4.4. The fact that it’s running KitKat out of the box is a bit of a disappointment, but its big R7 Plus brother comes with Android 5.1, so we could eventually see the R7 get 5.1 as well. Besides that software niggle, the R7 looks like a respectable device for the money, and it’s nice to see Oppo offering it unlocked in the US.
