Five days after OnePlus revealed the first spec detail of its upcoming OnePlus 2, the company has shed light on another feature of its next Android smartphone.
The OnePlus 2 will include a USB Type-C connector, which OnePlus claims will make it the “first flagship smartphone” to use that type of port. Why choose USB Type-C? “We want to lead the way in power connectivity,” says OnePlus.
We’ve seen a lot of chatter regarding USB Type-C lately following Apple and Google’s decisions to include the connector in the new MacBook and Chromebook Pixel laptops, and Google announced last month that Android M will bring support for USB Type-C as well. What makes USB Type-C appealing is that its reversible, meaning that you’ll no longer need to fiddle around with your USB cable to try and plug it into your phone the right direction. And while the OnePlus 2 might be one of the first smartphones with a USB Type-C plug, I’d bet that we’ll see a lot more Android phones with that feature in the future.
