Motorola recently said that the DROID Turbo’s Android 5.1 update is still in testing, and right now it’s unclear when the update will actually begin rolling out. To help ease the wait until the push begins, Verizon has given us a preview of the Turbo running Lollipop.
On its DROID Turbo support site, Verizon has a Simulator that will walk you through how to perform various functions on the phone. Interestingly, the Simulator says that it was modified on June 11 to Android 5.1. Obviously that’s not the case, but that hasn’t stopped Verizon from uploading several images of an Android 5.1-powered DROID Turbo to its support site.
The DROID Turbo launched with Android 4.4.4, and while Verizon said that the phone was upgradeable to Android 5.0, Motorola and Verizon have decided instead to update it directly to Android 5.1 instead. Exactly when that update will begin rolling out is a mystery, but at least when it does, DROID Turbo owners will be on the latest public version of Android.
