Last weekend, a rumor emerged that claimed that T-Mobile was planning to increase the mobile hotspot allotment of its Unlimited 4G LTE Simple Choice plan customers. Now another leak shows that T-Mo’s announcement is going to be even better.
TmoNews has gotten hold of an internal T-Mobile memo that shows that on June 12, the mobile hotspot feature will be enabled for all plans. That includes postpaid, prepaid, Simple Choice No Credit, business, and employee customers.
Meanwhile, folks with Unlimited 4G LTE data plans will have their monthly hotspot allotment increased by 2GB, just as expected. Those customers will also no longer have a hard limit on how much they can use their hotspot each month. Instead, T-Mobile will have their hotspot speeds reduced once they use their monthly allotment. It’s rumored that those speeds will be cut to 128kbps.
While increased hotspot allotments and the removal of caps would’ve been nice on their own, this new leak suggests that it’s going to be pretty awesome. That’s because while Unlimited 4G LTE customers are going to benefit the most, pretty much all T-Mobile customers are going to gain something for nothing. Mobile hotspot may not be a feature that everyone uses all of the time, but it’s certainly nice to have just in case you find yourself somewhere without Wi-Fi for your tablet or computer, and soon T-Mo customers won’t have to worry about running into that situation.
