T-Mobile CEO John Legere is one of the most unfiltered, outspoken executives in mobile, and he’s also one of the most prevalent execs in social media. Today he’s appearing both on T-Mobile’s blog and on YouTube to get you to support his cause.
In a blog post titled “If You’re Not Pissed Off, You’re Not Paying Attention,” Legere talks up the importance of spectrum and the role it plays in connecting you to the internet. He then explains that the FCC will soon hold an auction for low-band spectrum, which is sought after for its ability to penetrate buildings. Legere claims that “Big and Bigger” (AT&T and Verizon) are hounding the five FCC commissioners to set the rules of the upcoming auction in a way that’ll make it difficult for other carriers to get that low-band spectrum. If they get their way, Legere says, “every consumer in America loses” and you’ll be hit with higher bills and poor customer service.
So how can you help? Legere wants you to tweet at FCC (@FCC) or sent a letter to your representatives.
T-Mobile has grown quite a bit in recent years under John Legere’s leadership, gaining a lot of subscribers and improving its network coverage and speeds. That said, one of the most common complaints about T-Mo is its coverage, especially outside of major cities. Legere is urging us to help T-Mobile in the upcoming spectrum auction so that it can buy some low-band spectrum to improve rural and in-building coverage.
John Legere’s vlog on the subject of this spectrum auction can be found above. As is usually the case with Legere, there’s a bit of swearing involved, so keep that in mind before hitting the Play button.
