Remember that Designed for Families initiative that Google announced earlier this year? Well the effort is now bearing fruit in the Google Play store.
Google Play now includes a “Family” section that highlights apps that are deemed appropriate for kids and families. There are subcategories for Ages 5 & Under, Ages 6-8, and Ages 9 & Up, as well as genres like Action & Adventure, Brain Games, Creativity, Education, Music & Video, and Pretend Play. The page also includes link to specific popular characters and shows, like Garfield, Star Wars, and Adventure Time.
Most of the time, you can pretty easily make a judgment about whether an app is kid-friendly or not by looking at its name and the content on its download page. That said, this Family page is still handy because it divides apps into sections based on ages, genres, and characters, making it super-easy to find the perfect app for your kids.
