Typically when a new smartphone is announced but there’s no availability information available, a carrier will ask you to pre-register on its website to be notified when more information is available. Now you can do the same for Android apps.
A new “Pre-register” feature has gone live on Google Play that lets you be notified when a particular app is released. The first app to include this feature is Terminator Genisys: Revolution. Once you pre-register for the app, you’ll receive a notification on your device when it actually becomes available in the Play Store, which could happen near the movie’s release date of July 1. You can also unregister if you decide that you’re no longer interested in the app.
Glu Mobile and the official Terminator social media accounts announced this new game yesterday, and they’ll likely make another announcement when the app is actually released. With this new pre-registration feature, though, they can ensure that anyone that signs up can be directly alerted the moment that the app hits the Play Store’s digital shelves without any effort on the makers’ part. They also eliminate the possibility that some consumers might hear about the app pre-release but then miss the release announcement.
